A Globe valve is a type of linear motion valve that is used to stop, start, and regulate fluid flow.
The globe valve disc can be totally withdrawn from the flow stream or completely closed. The disc moves perpendicular to the seat as the valve opens and closes.
This motion forms an annular space between the disc and the seat ring, which progressively closes when the valve is closed. This feature gives the globe valve the necessary throttling capabilities for flow regulation.
The globe valve seat leaks less than the gate valve seat, owing to the correct angle contact between the disc and seat ring, which provides for a tighter seal between the seat and the disc.
